NUANCE is an email list providing a forum for the discussion of personal, family, financial, legal, political and social issues arising from marital separation and divorce in Australia and New Zealand.

2. Provide encouragement and support to separated and divorced single parents and their efforts in promoting and achieving positive personal, family and social change, and to provide a virtual community for those who may feel isolated in their personal realisations and struggles:

Promote dialogue, networking, support and activism within and between those in Australia and New Zealand concerning issues of post-marital family life - particularly in relation to the Family Court (FC), the Department of Social Security (DSS) and Centrelink and the Child Support Agency (CSA); and

4. Circulate information on current and new activities, initiatives, research and resources.

Civility and respect for one another on the list is a high priority.

Off-list abuse and harassment of NUANCE subscribers by other subscribers will not be tolerated, whether originating from, or associated with, NUANCE postings or from other sources. Anyone engaging in such activity (as sending unsolicited and continued abusive, threatening, questioning, harassing, etc email or other online or offline activity) will be unsubscribed from NUANCE. If anyone does have an issue they believe needs resolving with another it is recommended that he initially contact the other person involved off-list, and if this leads nowhere, promptly cease such correspondence ASAP and then contact the list moderator about the issue and/or make the issue (albeit briefly) public on the list.

NUANCE does not exist to provide a voice for sexist (misandrist and misogynist) commentary and worldviews, in particular those of feminism, feminists and profeminists (and those fellow-travellers aligned or allied with them). Material that is androphobic, misandrist and misogynist is not permitted, because it does not work for the best interests of men and women and their families.

Anyone introducing to the list the issue of another person's unsubscription will also be unsubscribed. Concerns about unsubscriptions should be addressed to the list owner and list administrator personally - off-list. All too often this technique (of posting challenges to the list) is used to argue with the decisions of the list management, with the result that the list moves from the focus of its charter and becomes bogged down in administrative and personality side issues. If this happens, a "spill and fill" of all subscribers will be considered. (This has been seen to work effectively on another list.)

A digest for NUANCE is not produced.

Post size is limited to 40KB. It is recommended you limit attachments to nothing bigger than 35 KB. Anything larger tends to bounce, meaning it doesn't make it to the list and clogs up the moderator's inbox.

Reposting with the intent of causing hurt or harm to a NUANCE member is not permitted. Accordingly, as part of making NUANCE a safer place to talk and work, the following member denoted restriction applies:
